Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar was one of the American and British sitar artist. She was among the youngest and first woman to receive the British House of Commons Shield she's received 9 Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian of Indian descent to perform live in concert and be a presenter for the award ceremony. Anoushka is the rising star in Indian sitar. She is a student and granddaughter of legendary Ravi Shankar. She was born in 1982 in London. Her early years included a period of time between London and New Delhi. Her debut concert was at New Delhi at the tender age of thirteen. In 1999, she completed her high school education in Encinitas CA. Anouskha is yet to be a mature woman nevertheless, she has an amazing career in music and performance. Since quite some time, she regularly performs with her father. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. Two years later she released the Grammy nominated Live at Carnegie Hall. Her stage career is very broad as she's performed in most of the biggest venues in the world. Anoushka isn't just a performer. Bapi: The of My Life of My Live is her 2002 novel, and was a tribute Ravi Shankar. Also, in films in 2003 she was in the movie Dance Like a Man where she plays the role of a teenage Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging star and her career will continue to grow. Anoushka shankar is an English born singer who travelled her early days in London, Delhi and California. Anoushka Shankar began her musical studies at age nine. Four years later she played her first music debut with the sitar Delhi for her father's 70th birthday celebration. Accompanying her father as he toured the world Anoushka had a wealth of performances on stage at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens. She performed at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival as well as making recordings with George Harrison. Her talent and musicality was recognized by British parliament as among the finest in Asian Arts.
