Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community situated in the West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" location. The West Island, to those who don't know about it, is an extensive part that stretches from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time was not long in the city. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa located in Ontario. Her first ambition was to become a dancer, but the rapid growth of her body led to she literally outgrew the dancers she was with. The article she wrote about her experience revealed published by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. Once I had outgrown my males in my group, I decided to quit. For Brugel, it was the encouragement of the drama instructor at her high school that inspired her to pursue acting. It was her teacher who suggested she audition for the role of Anne for their school's annual production. She was the teacher who suggested that she go after a role in the school's annual production. She was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to go to York University's Theatre Program in 2000. She graduated from the program in 2000, earning a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. In the 20+ years since then, Brugel has landed roles on more than 60 productions across both small and large screens attracting the most attention after she was cast as Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the only Canadian participant on the show in Season 1 of the series. She was not seen much.
